Swiss Miss

Sometime in May, Emma and I decided to day trip to Geneva again and continue on to Lausanne and Montreux. this is what happened.

We took a really early train and got into Geneva before most shops were open, this is the site 3 blocks from the train station
There was a pretty cool lighthouse and lots of birds aroundoverlooking lake geneva, on the other end from here and continuing straight past the peninsula is Montreux, or final destination

Pretty cool surrounding area
Waterfront in Geneva

English... french french french french french french french french. did you get that???

Emma spies a curious animal, and approaches for a closer look
yeah, um, close look
why isn't the sundial working???
this is a prime example of western/LA fashion pouring over to frenchies, a travesty, and also a prime example of french people wearing clothes with english on them with no regard for the translation, although soccer is probably better than some things i've seen on american girls.

so if you heard europe has really cool skate spots just lying around at say... a middleschool, you heard right. Lausanne head straight from the trainstation to the lake and you'll find this beauty.

where you at?

more awesome lakeside public skatespotscrazy weird modern church that i thought looked like the deathstar had crashed

cool lakeside garden
Emma was creeped out, i thought they were cool
ok, maybe a little different
but awesome nontheless
the whole reason for this trip was so i could see this. the Freddie Mercury statue on the main walk in Montreux, right on the shores of lake Geneva. This is where Mercury spent most of his final years and eventually died. i'm not a fan of Queen, but FM is definitely an icon and i'm down with icons, especially gay ones who rocked in sweet outfits stoodup for so many others.

This girl is amazing
This is the reason why i came here, and after only 2 seconds standing next to the best tribute in the world to this great man, it was time to hightail it back to catch the train, drink beers, and eat french gas station food with my girl. tough life eh?

this project was made possible by generous donations from: mom & dad
and by annual financial support from viewers like you.

Absence

All apologies, but the last month in France was quite hectic, traveling, studying, examing, packing, moving out, birthdaying, more traveling, and more traveling.

Then this summer i've been having too much fun to sit down on a computer and tell you all what happened but now, after several requests, it seems i have to catch up.

so here commences a few large posts of what's been going on from france to switzerland, berlin, hannover, london, liverpool, boise and portland.

Irony

I thought it was hilarious when i stumbled across an internet addiction site that has a blog,

does that mean that in order to seek help you have to relapse??

ha, oh wow, funny.

This video is so lame! oh wait, that's me!

I went to the Tamarack website today to see what they had to say about them sucking, there was a link to an Idaho ski site, with a horrible video on the homepage (soul of skiing). it is the perfect example of cheery faced, smile-through-your-teeth marketing, it tries to cater to everyone it can in the most pathetically fake cheerful voice. I think it resembles everything i've come to hate about the french method of marketing and ski resorts and i am saddened it's made it's way to the states.

anyway...

so here i am giggling at how lame this video is and that you can see Corey Mac in it after like 30 seconds when... wait... what... no!!! THERE I AM!!! no mistaking it, that's my signature grab-rail-method-euro-carve. but wait, that's totally wrong i don't have a green board! who is this impostor, wait is that a skate banana? it is~! so who has a..? GEORGE!!! but then that means this was shot in colorado not idaho, ha funny poorly advertised, wait no!!! George came to idaho and i rode his skate banana!! muah ahahaha i am genius man/.

although i do remember something about riding with someone who was taking stock footage, i searched my iCal, as i kept a pretty detailed riding journal last season, there was the day with George but no mention of filmers
Then i clicked back a few days and i see it, one day at bogus with Daniel and Corey Mac, last spring break, where i had taken Georges banana up when i drove to idaho, so he didn't have to fly it, borrowed it for a day and made some laps on the home hill.

All the little stories behind one shot in a randomly discovered video.

*Note: when i glanced at the bottom, where i used to keep track of notable stuff for the day, i realized this was just when i started relearning backside spins after mentally losing them to cab spins, and starting switch backside. then all this noseblunt nonsens, i thought i was an idiot for amoment, knowing full well that noseblunts don't really exist in snowboarding and a 180 into a noseblunt is not possible. until i rememberd that sweet little bank to mailbox corey had setup at the bottom.

I'll stop talking now about stuff no one cares about.

ADDITION:

Check the adjoining video for more of corey mac's sweet back tail's, back 360's and so on, and i think puprle jacket is Phil?? not sure can't remember

Switzerland

This is a little bit of video i shot in Switzerland, pretty boring, but i shot it more for mum than anyone else.

Easter

This last week was our Easter vacation, it started out in Les Gets with 2 days of skiing with Simon and Sarah, it was the alst time i will see Jo, as she is leaving for the US for 2 months and will be returning just as i leave for home.

Came back and spent a few days with Emma and her Exeter friend Beth, we popped around to Aiguebellete lake onthe worst day possible. next day was in Lyon skating with Jean-Francois, while the girls sunbathed. met some really cool guys that absolutely shred mini ramp, like switch frontside three's, alleyoop frontside feebles, tre flips to fakie, all sorts of gnar stuff. I'll be seeing them again soon.

Then i got a package from the fam with a video camer and tons of easter candy. booyah. decided to take the two over to Simon's and play around, we decided to burn the Peeps bunnies and us the new cam to record it.

Please excuse the Catholic School Girl's foul tongue.

My bike

Today was a sad day for Rowdy, after a first rear tire replacement, the front one was slowly going as well. I noticed it but was not stoked to spend another 20 dollars replacing a tire on a bike that only cost 40 dollars. so i was determined to ride it till it's last.

if you take out the falling part and the riding an oldschool hi-wheel, this is what happened to my bike today.

I hope this is a trend

There have been a few documentaries lately chronicling religious topics. The first one i saw a few months ago was bill Maher's "Religulous", which while interesting, was still a mock-umentary from a man based in comedy. way too biased, even in my opinion, it would interest me to see all of his footage given to church and re-edited and compare the two resulting films. none the less, i agree with him.

The second one which i have just stumbled across, ( which is actually 2 years older, and probably prompted Maher's documentary)but have only viewed about 20 minutes of, is "Jesus Camp" which is even more disturbing than Maher' film. if you ignore the pathetic "brain washing" titling, i think this video gives a good over view of the lunacy.
Highlights (or lowlights) from Jesus Camp

Maher's evenly populated debate on Jesus Camp

Jesus Camp full movie(slower, better quality divx streaming)

The jesus camp thing, and the way the kids interact with each other really reminds me of that family guy episode with the cult kids who are unics.
